Assistant Manager - Retail Operations Training

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Oversee Trainers & Training Centre
    • Coordinate and monitor trainers, training schedules, Centre operations, and training effectiveness to ensure consistent delivery standards.
  2. Lead Retail Training Strategy
    • Assist in developing and executing training strategies aligned with retail operational priorities, business goals, and capability gaps.
  3. Succession Planning
    • Develop and maintain succession plans for key retail positions by identifying high-potential talent and establishing structured development pathways.
  4. Training Programme Development
    • Design and enhance retail operations training programmes, including onboarding, operational skills, leadership, and career development programmes.
  5. E-Learning Development
    • Assist in developing and implementing e-learning content and digital learning solutions to improve training accessibility and scalability.
  6. Training Materials & Standards
    • Develop, review, and maintain training materials, SOP-related learning content, trainer guides, and assessment tools to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  7. Training Performance & Continuous Improvement
    • Track training effectiveness, gather feedback and operational insights, and recommend improvements to strengthen retail capability and business performance.
  8. Any ad hoc task assists by management

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, or a related field. HRD Corp Train-the-Trainer (TTT) certification is an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years of experience in training, learning & development or retail/F&B operations, with prior team-leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of convenience store or retail operations, SOPs and service standards.
  • Familiarity with HRD Corp (HRDC) claim and application processes.
  • Hands-on experience developing e-learning content on an LMS (RYMNET or equivalent).
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Willing to travel to outstation training Center and stores for training delivery and audits.
